Getting Started

This guide takes you from unboxing your SmartSpin2k to your first ride.

Set up with the Companion App

Guided Setup opens the first time you launch the SmartSpin2k Companion App. It walks you through every step on your phone, with pictures.

Already installed? Tap Guided Setup on the Find Your SmartSpin2k screen. To leave it, tap Exit Setup at the top right.

Keep the default settings for your first ride. The defaults are tuned for the Schwinn IC4, Bowflex C6, and Peloton, and work for most magnetic-resistance spin bikes.

Skip calibration during setup. SmartSpin2k works without it. Once you’ve ridden, see Calibration if you want it.

Choose your bike

Prefer to read along on a bigger screen, or left Guided Setup partway through? Pick your bike. The setup page covers the same steps as Guided Setup, in the same order.

What to expect

Setup follows the same eight parts for every bike.

  1. Install the hardware. Mount the SmartSpin2k, arm, and shifter on your bike.
  2. Connect the cables. Plug in the cables your bike uses.
  3. Connect the app. Find your SmartSpin2k in the Companion App.
  4. Choose your power source. Tell SmartSpin2k where your power and cadence come from.
  5. Check the numbers. Pedal and watch power and cadence appear in the Companion App.
  6. Test the shifter. Shift up and down and watch the resistance knob turn.
  7. Optional: heart rate and WiFi. Relay a heart rate monitor and connect to WiFi for firmware updates.
  8. Your first ride. Pair SmartSpin2k in your training app, such as Zwift, Rouvy, or TrainerRoad.

After your first ride, you can calibrate so SmartSpin2k learns your knob’s range. It’s optional.
